After reading the book and observing Che's adventures and after watching the documentary about Che as a malicious communist leader can you see how Che changed from the beginning of The Motorcycle Diaries to who he was at the time of his death? Pick out one or two instances from the book that show Che's true transformation, and how the trip across Latin America transformed him into the communist dictator.
I think this is a good wrap-up question because it ties Che as an adventurer and Che as a dictator, and speaks to his trip and the transformation he mad on it.
That's is a very good question and i agree with you that it does wrap up his true transformation. Well in his speech to his medical students at the end of the book, he says "if we know the goals, if we know the enemy, and if we know the direction in which we have to travel, then the only thing left for us is to know the daily stretch of the road and to take it. Nobody can point out that stretch; that stretch is the personal road of each individual; it is what he or she will do every day, what he or she will gain from their experience, and what he or she will give of themselves in practising their profession, dedicated to the people's well-being"(175 Guevara). I think that this quote shows his true transformation because he is talking about that the road you take in life you pick that out no one can tell you which road to take and also he says that once you know your goals and direction you then have to figure out your path. So I think that as Ernesto he did not know what he really wanted to do and from this trip he figured out his goal and direction which was to help poverty and took the stretch that lead him to Cuba.
